Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that Pune's traffic congestion causes a monthly loss of approximately Rs 900 crore due to fuel wastage and lost productivity. He attributed this to the city's 30 lakh private vehicles, with 15 lakh on the road daily. Pawar suggested free public transport, funded by support to Pune Metro and PMPML, as a solution to alleviate the issue.
