Following US military strikes and the reported capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by US forces, opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has been thrust into the global spotlight. Machado, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has declared the "hour of freedom" has arrived for Venezuela and called for opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia to assume the presidency. She expressed support for the US action, viewing it as enforcement of law and a step towards international justice for Maduro. Machado has been in hiding and recently traveled to Oslo to receive her Nobel Prize.
