The Delhi High Court has ordered the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to conduct a survey within two months to verify allegations of illegal construction and encroachment in and around the Jama Masjid. The court directed that if any illegal structures are found, appropriate action must be taken according to law. This directive follows a public interest litigation filed by local residents citing issues like illegal parking, commercial activities, and encroachment on public parks. The court's order comes amid recent tensions from a demolition drive in the Turkman Gate area.
