Bangladeshi singer and Awami League leader Proloy Chaki, 60, died on Sunday while in police custody at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Jail authorities stated he suffered from pre-existing conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart problems, and received medical care. However, his family alleges negligence and denial of timely treatment. Chaki was arrested in 2024 following a student-led movement and the exile of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
