Punjab's Aam Aadmi Clinics are reportedly seeing nearly 20,000 pregnant women monthly for comprehensive care, including free ultrasound services via a referral system with private centers. Health Minister Balbir Singh stated this initiative has saved families an estimated ₹1 crore in expenses. The program aims to address the state's maternal mortality ratio, which is higher than the national average, and improve antenatal check-up rates. The clinics are integrated into the primary healthcare system, offering routine and critical tests for an estimated 4.3 lakh pregnancies annually.
