The Madras High Court has stayed the release and circulation of a book allegedly targeting Justice G.R. Swaminathan, who recently ruled on the Thirupparankundram Hill row. The court deemed the book's content "highly derogatory" and "abusive," initiating suo motu contempt proceedings against the publisher, Keezhaikaatru Publishers. The bench, led by Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, emphasized that while criticism of judgments is allowed, personal attacks on judges undermine the judiciary's foundation and public confidence. Police were directed to seize all copies of the publication.
