Operation Kagar in south Bastar, targeting Left Wing Extremism (LWE), faces criticism for allegedly harming civilians. However, a recently surrendered senior CPI (Maoist) commander, Badse Sukka alias Deva, reportedly stated the operation focuses on armed insurgent leadership and formations. Deva, who specialized in military planning and weapons, claims he was involved in reorganizing Maoist units under pressure from intensified security operations. His surrender, according to police, provided information on weapons storage and indicated cadres were killed or surrendered during the operation.
