
Justice M.S. Sonak, a judge of the Bombay High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium recommended his elevation, and the appointment was approved by the President of India. Justice Sonak, who will assume office on January 8, 2026, following the retirement of the incumbent, has a notable legal career, including significant judgments on taxation, intellectual property, and personal liberty, and was the first person in Goa to register a living will.
