The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved setting up polling booths in 69 high-rise housing complexes across seven districts in West Bengal for upcoming assembly elections, despite objections from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. The ECI reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the low number of identified complexes, particularly in Kolkata. The BJP has lauded the decision, viewing it as a step to enhance voter participation, especially for urban residents. Polling stations will be established in complexes with over 300 voters.
