This recalibration reportedly gained momentum after Muhammad Yunus became Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, with Pakistan's intelligence establishment playing a role in reactivating bilateral channels. Bilateral trade has seen substantial growth, with Pakistan's exports to Bangladesh increasing by 27% in July-September 2024 and continuing to rise. The resumption of direct sea trade, with the first Pakistani cargo vessel docking in Chittagong in November 2024, has been a key factor.
