CPI(M) veteran S. Rajendran, a three-time MLA from Devikulam, is reportedly set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rajendran stated his decision is driven by a desire to address critical issues in the Idukki district, including the living conditions of plantation workers and the need for housing in SC/ST colonies. He believes the Central government and BJP are best positioned to resolve these challenges, citing wildlife regulations and linguistic issues as further motivators. Rajendran's move follows a one-year suspension from CPI(M) in February 2022 for alleged electoral lapses.
