A US Congressman has stated that using military force against Greenland without Congressional authorization would be illegal, especially as both the US and Denmark are NATO allies. Ted Lieu, a Democratic Representative and former Air Force lawyer, warned that military members following such orders would be acting unlawfully. Denmark has indicated that a US military operation to acquire Greenland could lead to the end of NATO and the collapse of the post-WWII security order.
