
The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved an expenditure of Rs 26,069.50 crore for the 1720 MW Kamala hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh. The storage-based project, a joint venture between NHPC and the state government, aims to generate 6,869.92 million units of green energy annually. It includes a flood moderation component for the Brahmaputra valley and is expected to be completed in eight years. The project is seen as a significant step towards India's energy transition and net-zero targets.
