The first phase of India's Census 2027, the houselisting and housing census, will be conducted nationwide from April 1 to September 30, 2026. Each state and Union Territory will designate a 30-day period within this timeframe for the operations. A self-enumeration option will be available for 15 days prior to the house-to-house visits. This decennial exercise, postponed from 2021 due to the pandemic, will also include caste enumeration in its second phase, scheduled for February 2027.
