The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed district magistrates to enroll eligible members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in West Bengal as voters, even if their names are not on the 2002 voter list. This directive allows for enrollment without requiring traditional documents, with DMs authorized to approve inclusion. The administration will also facilitate the issuance of Scheduled Tribe certificates for those who lack them. Revised electoral rolls are set to be published on February 14.
