Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor, a senior Taliban official, has arrived in New Delhi to assume charge as Afghanistan's Charge d'Affaires at its embassy. This marks the first diplomatic posting to India since the Taliban's takeover in 2021. Noor previously served as Director General of the First Political Department at Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was part of Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi's delegation during his October visit. India, while not officially recognizing the Taliban regime, has increased engagement, particularly in humanitarian aid and health cooperation, with Afghanistan's health minister noting India as a key partner as ties with Pakistan deteriorate.
