Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed serious concerns to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding a proposed Malayalam Language Bill that would make Malayalam the compulsory first language in Kannada-medium schools, particularly in border districts like Kasaragod. Siddaramaiah argues this infringes on linguistic minority rights and India's pluralistic traditions. Vijayan, however, stated the bill safeguards minority rights, ensures linguistic freedom, and aligns with constitutional values, asserting that apprehensions are unfounded and students can choose languages per the National Education Curriculum.
