
Senior IPS officer Sadanand Vasant Date has taken charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Maharashtra, succeeding Rashmi Shukla. A 1990-batch officer, Date, known for his role during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, will serve a two-year tenure. He previously headed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and has held various key positions, including Maharashtra ATS chief and Joint Commissioner of Police in Mumbai. Date's appointment aligns with Supreme Court guidelines aimed at preventing political interference in police leadership.
