Odisha is preparing for its census, with the first phase of house listing and housing operations scheduled for April-May 2026. The primary population enumeration will follow in February 2027. The exercise will involve approximately one lakh enumerators and 15,000 supervisors, with enumerators receiving training and financial incentives. A significant portion, around 90%, of data collection is expected to be digital, with options for self-enumeration via an OTP-based mobile verification system. Administrative boundaries of new civic bodies have been finalized to ensure accurate data collection.
