The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) has directed the Thane collector to pay compensation within a month to a landowner whose property was acquired for the Mumbai-Vadodara Highway. The complainant, Mohamed Latif Shaikh, stated he received no compensation for his land, home, and shop, leading to loss of livelihood. The MSHRC noted the collector's absence and lack of rebuttal, concluding the property was acquired without compensation. Shaikh is also part of a Bombay High Court petition with others affected by the highway project.
