The Punjab Congress has launched the 'MGNREGA Bachao Sangram' from Gurdaspur, a statewide agitation against the central government's alleged scrapping of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and its replacement with the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB G RAM G). Party leaders assert MGNREGA improved rural employment for marginalized communities. The Congress also criticized the state's Aam Aadmi Party government for poor implementation of the scheme. The campaign aims to reclaim rural political space and address internal party factionalism.
