The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed a unique Aadhaar-like identification number for electric vehicle batteries. This 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN) aims to enhance traceability and facilitate recycling. Battery manufacturers and importers will be required to assign a BPAN to every battery entering the market, including those for self-use, according to draft guidelines.
