Special elections are scheduled for Monday, January 12, in three local body wards across Kerala: Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Payimbadam in Malappuram's Moothedam grama panchayat, and Onakkoor in Ernakulam's Pambakkuda grama panchayat. These elections were necessitated by the postponement of the 2025 local body elections in these wards due to candidate deaths. Polling will occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with vote counting on January 13. The Vizhinjam ward is notable as it was recently won by the BJP.
