The Chandigarh Congress staged a protest against the Union government, alleging it has weakened the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Congress activists claim the government shifted the program from a demand-based to a supply-based model, making fund allocation discretionary. They also criticized proposals to increase states' financial contribution, warning it would dismantle the rural employment scheme and harm the rural economy. The protest was led by Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky.
