Delhi Traffic Police will selectively file First Information Reports (FIRs) for wrong-side driving, reserving criminal action for life-threatening violations, repeat offenders, or instances showing wilful disregard for the law. This approach aims to deter reckless behavior without criminalizing minor infractions. While awareness drives and challans remain primary methods, FIRs under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita are being registered in serious cases, marking a new enforcement strategy in the capital. Offenders are typically released on bail.
