The Uttar Pradesh government has revised its school admission rules under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, removing the mandatory Aadhaar requirement for children and both parents. Applications will now only require the Aadhaar of one parent. While Aadhaar is no longer needed for admission itself, it remains essential for disbursing financial assistance, which will be transferred to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. The government aims to simplify the process for disadvantaged families and ensure smoother access to education in private unaided schools, with admissions capped at 25% of entry-level capacity.
