A delegation from the North East Youth Congress Coordination Committee (NEYCCC) visited the family of Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old student from Tripura who died after being attacked in Dehradun. The delegation, acting on instructions from Rahul Gandhi, consoled the family and vowed support. Chakma was reportedly attacked on December 9 after objecting to racial slurs and succumbed to his injuries on December 26. NEYCCC leaders are demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators and highlighted the incident as an act of racial discrimination.
