Jewellers in Bihar have implemented a statewide rule restricting entry and sales to customers with covered faces, including those wearing hijabs, niqabs, burqas, masks, or helmets. The All India Jewellers and Gold Federation cites rising gold and silver prices and increased theft incidents as security concerns. The federation states the rule applies equally to men and women and is for identification purposes to prevent robberies, not to target any community. However, the RJD has condemned the move, calling it unconstitutional and a violation of religious freedom.
