India is enhancing its land and property systems by moving services online, allowing citizens in 19 states to download legally valid, digitally signed land records. This digital initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Land Resources, aims to reduce paperwork and streamline property transactions. Banks in 406 districts can now verify mortgage details online, expediting loan approvals. Rural land record digitization is nearing completion, with most villages having computerized records and digitized maps, and urban land management is being improved through aerial surveys in select cities.
