Delhi's Water Minister Parvesh Verma announced that nearly half of the city's 16,000 km water pipeline network is over 20 years old, with over 5,200 km exceeding 30 years. This aging infrastructure contributes to contamination, leaks, and up to 55% non-revenue water loss. The government plans a comprehensive seven-to-eight-year overhaul, issuing tenders within a year, aiming to replace 7,000 km in the next two years. The minister also mentioned efforts to increase raw water supply from neighboring states and revive stalled water projects.
