The Election Commission of India (ECI) is considering action against Mousam Sarkar, an Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) in West Bengal, for publicly questioning discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The CEO of West Bengal's office stated Sarkar violated service discipline by not following proper procedures and disrespecting a constitutional authority. Sarkar defended his actions, claiming they were necessary in the public interest and that other officers should also speak up. He has not yet received official communication regarding the potential action.
