Karnataka Minister Madhu Bangarappa criticized the BJP for replacing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act. He accused the BJP of disrespecting Gandhi by removing his name from the scheme, stating that while Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi once, the BJP is 'murdering' his legacy daily. Bangarappa argued the change weakens gram panchayats and will negatively impact the rural economy, vowing Congress will protest this move nationally.
