A Punjab police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has cleared former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in a 2020 land fraud case. The SIT report stated Saini was not involved in criminal activity or motivating others in the alleged fraudulent sale of a Mohali property. Saini had been named an accused in the FIR in August 2021, related to a house allegedly bought with proceeds of crime. He was previously arrested in this case but released after his arrest was deemed illegal by the high court.
