The West Bengal BJP president, Samik Bhattacharya, has warned that the party will not permit Assembly elections if the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is obstructed. He alleged that Electoral Registration Officers are refusing to accept Form 7, used for objections, despite BJP workers conducting booth-level scrutiny. Bhattacharya accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of wanting to conduct elections with a flawed voter list and urged the Election Commission to ensure a smooth SIR process. This marks a public expression of dissatisfaction with the EC by the BJP, contrasting with the TMC's frequent criticism of the poll panel.
