Three-time CPI(M) MLA P. Aisha Potty has joined the Congress in Kerala, ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Potty, a former legislator from Kottarakkara, cited difficulties aligning with the CPI(M)'s current positions and feeling neglected within the party. She expressed respect for party cadres but noted the organization had changed since she joined. Potty, a lawyer, was a "giant killer" for the CPI(M) in 2006 and retained the Kottarakkara seat in 2011 and 2016. She is reportedly a potential Congress candidate for Kottarakkara, a seat currently held by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal.
