
A total of 15,931 candidates are contesting in the upcoming elections for 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra on January 15. The State Election Commission reported that out of 33,247 nominations filed, 24,771 were valid, with 8,840 candidates withdrawing by the deadline. These elections cover 2,869 seats in 893 wards. Major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and others have seen significant numbers of candidates and withdrawals, indicating intense political activity and seat-sharing adjustments.
