Political dynasties are a significant factor in the upcoming Mumbai Metropolitan Region civic elections, with prominent parties fielding relatives of established leaders. Families of BJP MLA Rahul Narwekar, Congress MLA Aslam Shaikh, and NCP leader Nawab Malik are among those contesting. The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena have also fielded multiple family members in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) elections, which will operate under a new multi-member panel system for the first time.
