Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan stated that over a third of issues in large infrastructure projects stem from land acquisition problems, with environmental and right-of-way concerns also significant. He noted that while 3,300 projects worth over Rs 85 lakh crore have been accelerated, land acquisition remains a key hurdle. Somanathan confirmed there are no plans to change the existing land acquisition law, emphasizing the need to balance project completion with public and environmental interests in a democracy.
