The Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) has criticized the state government's new pension scheme announcement, labeling it an election campaign tactic lacking genuine benefits. TNGEA's State Special President K. Balasubramanian stated the 'Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme' (TAPS) is a rebranding of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and offers insufficient guarantees. He called for unconditional pension benefits, inclusion of various employee categories, and suggested utilizing government employees' GPF funds for internal investment instead of seeking external sources.
