India's disaster management strategy has shifted towards preparedness and resilience, moving beyond episodic response. This whole-of-government approach, coordinated by the NDMA under the PMO and MHA, emphasizes continuous functioning and community capability. While institutional frameworks are strengthening, a key challenge remains embedding preparedness into public consciousness through sustained awareness and innovative initiatives, converting awareness into instinctive behavior across India's diverse population.
