A new socio-political group, Voice of Buddhist Ladakh (VBL), has been launched in Ladakh, aiming to reshape talks with the central government regarding the region's rights. The VBL seeks to address concerns over constitutional safeguards, land and environmental protection, and employment opportunities, which have fueled ongoing unrest since Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019. The group expresses dissatisfaction with the current representation of Buddhist interests in ongoing negotiations with the High-Powered Committee, signaling a potential shift in regional engagement with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
