Assam's Hojai district saw over 1,700 acres of reserve forest land reclaimed in a government eviction drive. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the operation as peaceful and lawful, part of a larger campaign since 2021 that has recovered nearly 1.45 lakh bighas. The evictions have primarily impacted Bengali-speaking Muslim communities.
