A Mumbai court has discharged former MP Navneet Rana in a case alleging forgery of her caste certificate. The charges stemmed from a complaint that she used a forged certificate to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Amravati seat, reserved for Scheduled Castes. While Rana has been discharged, the case against her father will continue. The Supreme Court had previously restored Rana's caste certificate in April 2024, after the Bombay High Court had initially cancelled it.
