The Delhi government has approved the free distribution of 1 kg of packaged sugar per month to approximately 65,883 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiary families. This initiative, set to run from January 2026 to March 2027, aims to improve hygiene and accuracy compared to the current loose distribution system. Officials stated that until a new tender for branded packaging is finalized, distribution will continue through existing channels to ensure uninterrupted supply.
