The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has urged the Forest Department to clear 16.25 acres of forest land to expedite the construction of seven masterplan roads. These roads are crucial for providing quicker access to the new Bhogapuram international airport, scheduled for a validation flight on January 4. Land acquisition challenges, including forest clearances and compensation for private landowners, have slowed down the projects, estimated to cost ₹156 crore. Plans also include widening internal roads and developing a beach corridor.
