This decline follows the Trump administration's stricter immigration policies and tariffs on Canada, alongside Canadian efforts to address visa program exploitation. In fiscal year 2025, total encounters were 85,747, down from 198,929 in the previous year, with Indian apprehensions falling to 14,054 from 43,764.
