Illegal crossings by Indian nationals from Canada into the US saw a significant decrease in fiscal year 2025. Total encounters at the northern border dropped by 57%, with Indian nationals accounting for a 68% fall in apprehensions. This decline follows the Trump administration's stricter immigration policies and tariffs on Canada, alongside Canadian efforts to address visa program exploitation. In fiscal year 2025, total encounters were 85,747, down from 198,929 in the previous year, with Indian apprehensions falling to 14,054 from 43,764.
