
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has appointed water conservationist Rajendra Singh as Commissioner to study pollution in the Thamirabarani river. Dissatisfied with the Tamil Nadu government's progress, the court seeks Singh's expertise to suggest remedial measures. Singh, a Magsaysay awardee known for restoring rivers in Rajasthan, will conduct a detailed study and propose workable solutions, with assistance from field worker Balaji Rangaramanujam. All stakeholders are expected to cooperate with the appointed commissioner.
