Maharashtra State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare stated that promises made by a mayor based on religion or region could breach the model code of conduct, with action possible upon complaint. He also assured protection for election officers facing political backlash for their duties. Waghmare confirmed that the third phase of zilla parishad polls will be held before January 31, as mandated by the Supreme Court, for ZPs with less than 50% reservation. Decisions on other ZPs will follow Supreme Court directives.
