The Indian Army is establishing 15-20 'Shaktibaan' regiments to enhance its drone warfare capabilities. These units will be equipped with swarm drones, loitering munitions, and long-range UAVs capable of striking targets from 5 to 500 km. This initiative, part of a broader force restructuring, aims to bridge a strike capability gap. A tender for 850 loitering munitions, valued at approximately Rs 2,000 crore, is expected soon, with Indian manufacturers set to supply the systems.
