For the first time, India's Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, will feature double-humped Bactrian camels, known as Ladakh's 'silent warriors' for their resilience in extreme high-altitude conditions. These camels, inducted by the Indian Army's Remount Veterinary Corps, will lead an animal contingent. They will be accompanied by Zanskar ponies, trained raptors for drone surveillance, and a debut contingent of indigenous Indian dog breeds like Mudhol and Rajapalayam, highlighting India's self-reliance in showcasing native breeds.
